Once again, Atelier Design Studio had the chance to lend its expertise in interior design and renovation for its valued clients. Evelyn Chui and Kam Mun, owners of a three-bedroom condominium unit in 8 Riversuites, recently appointed Jim Lim, Design Director at Atelier, to create a special home.
The main entrance features an elegant, L-shaped cabinet. This cabinet served two purposes: To act as both a storage for shoes and miscellaneous items like books and files, as well as a display cabinet to showcase the owners’ NuSkin range of products. Part of its structure was used to cover up the power distribution box. Now, visitors who step through the main door are greeted not by bare walls but a beautiful feature wall!
Atelier also installed a TV cabinet, which was really was a structure with space for the TV set in the middle, a display cabinet below and storage space above. Through the use of LED lights, Jim, a mood creation specialist, has created a cosy atmosphere that is appealing to the homeowners.
Customised switches were installed to create a visually-appealing yet functional effect. Upon Jim’s request, the lamp in the living room was switched to a set of three chandeliers, with diameters 80cm, 60cm and 40cm. These chandeliers certainly add a very welcoming mood to the house, ready to dazzle visitors who are fortunate to walk through its doors!
In the washrooms, lighting was enhanced to create a bright, very appealing environment. LED lights were installed above and below the top-hung cabinets to provide good lighting for the users. The effect: A bright washroom that appeals to all. Mirrors have been installed on the cabinet doors to give the impression of a large space.
In the master bedroom, a quadrant storage has been installed at the owners’ request. This allows certain apparel to be hung, to allow them to air-dry. This is a departure from the usual practice, in which clothes are hung inside cabinets.
In the kitchen, after seeking the Professional Engineer’s approval, Atelier hacked the common wall between the kitchen and the storeroom. In its place now is a kitchen bar that doubles up as a breakfast counter. An additional lightbox has been installed in the kitchen, lending lots of light to the kitchen. The floor tiles have been changed to anti-slip wood-grain tiles, for the benefit of elderly parents and children who come to visit. The original storeroom door has been removed to create an open environment.
Under Jim’s skillful hands, this three-bedder has been transformed from a bare unit, with a 5.6m-high ceiling, handed over by the developer, complete with bare walls and hanging wires, into a very appealing and cosy home!
In Evelyn’s own words, “It was actually a very fun experience working with Jim. He’s very receptive, he’s a very good listener and he has very good details in mind. He doesnt mind sharing with you some wild ideas on how you can make it a very cost-effective project. He’s willing to work very closely with you to achieve where you want to get at!”.
With such good words from a happy homeowner, let Atelier Design Studio handle your next design and renovation project!
